Taking a Break

We took a well deserved break this morning.

It was our 4th annual trip to the pumpkin farm. Lots of friends joined us - we had a great time.

Notice it was a bit chilly. You can never call the weather conditions here in Wisconsin-last year it was in the 80's.

The November issue of Country Living Magazine is out.

The last 6 months have lead us down an exciting path which has resulted in our very own company, One Blue Moon Charms being named and featured as one of Country Living Magazine's 2009 products of the year.  Country Living is very supportive and nurturing of Women Entrepreneurs -we are completely honored.

Here are a few things we've learned along the way:

• You're stronger than you think- just forge ahead.
• Take a moment to be proud of yourself.
• Magazines work many months out-you will be waiting many months to see the final result.
• Be patient and resist any urges to stalk editors with emails.
• Don't kill the messenger. The mailman has no control over when your issue will arrive. Brittany- they cannot be fired for not having the magazine in their truck.

Mad About You

My latest addiction... Mad Men. I had my very own marathon this weekend by watching the entire first season on DVD.

The show's about the advertising men of Madison Ave, New York in the early 1960's. The men are competitive, the secretaries are tramps and the wives at home are clueless and pristine. The main character Don Draper is the best at what he does but has a mysterious past. It's good.-check it out-it plays on AMC 9 pm Central Sundays nights.

Time to Make the Doughnuts

Or should I say charms. We're approching prime show season here at One Blue Moon Charms -that  means we're making lots and lots of charms...I mean a lot. Our little fingers are raw but we keep on going.

Come join us next weekend at Discovery World.  There will be some fabulous artists, great music and wine-who could ask for more.

Private Collection

Exciting news!! The long awaited private designed line for Robin's Paperie is complete and will be delivered tomorrow. This collection is totally different then anything we've done before. Stop by and be the first to own one of these exclusive charms. I love them and actually have been wearing pieces from the line for a few weeks now.

Grande Raspberry Non-fat No-whip Mocha

Did I tell you I'm seriously addicted to Starbucks? Every morning my friends at my neighborhood store make my coffee without me having to say anything but hi (and handing them my credit card). I'm Norm in my very own Cheers. My first sip brings a second of pure peace to my chaotic world. and that's no simple feat these days. It's so serious I some days go back in for a second fix and I'm even registered at Starbucks website as Raspmocha. I don't care what anyone says-it's a small price to pay for the happiness I receive from that little cup. Hhhhhmmmm.

Make it work

One of my favorite shows Project Runway is on tonight-it's season 5 and is shown on Bravo. This year is shaping up to be the best season yet. My favorite designer is Kelly-she's the front runner winning the first challenge making a party dress out of dyed vacuum cleaner bags and charred coffee filters. The challenge was to use a budget of $75 and buy things at a grocery store to make their outfit.

Amazing!

Tim Dunn is my guy-LOVE him. He's the mentor helping the contestants stay creative and on track.

Can't wait to see what happens tonight.

Christmas in July

Today Robin and I went to the July show at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. The Mart is the place to go to buy wholesale gifts for your shop-the two big shows each year are in January and July. In July you are usually finish up your Halloween and Christmas orders. I always try to go when Beckmann's is going on-Beckmann's is an additional show during this time that showcases hand made goods-each artisan has their own booth. The great thing about Beckmann's is it's usually unique items that other  stores don't carry.

The mart is a great place to see amazing visual merchandising.

K&K Interiors is a favorite showroom of mine and Robin's. Here's a great display with garden hoses coming down from the ceiling.

I was totally in the mood for the holidays by the time we left.  And very excited for Robin --she is going to have a fabulous holiday season.

I picked up a few great pieces for myself. This great big sign and a really cool angel. Can't wait till they get here.

 

 

Little Princess Ballet Camp

Tiaras, ballet and lots and lots of pink...it was a great day for the princess wannabe. Today was the first day of ballet camp. Nothing could be cuter then these little 3 and 4 year olds dancing their hearts out. Dreams really do come true...

Ballet camp is at North Shore Academy of the Arts in Grafton. And as McKenna has said a thousand times today, her teacher is so beautiful.
